I have a 18k gold ring, a matte “frost” finish has. I would like to remove the finish. Is this possible? I’m worried that I might injure the gold underneath. Best Answer on How do I remove the matte finish from my gold ring and will it hurt the jewelry?

I would wear it to a jeweler, they should be able to buff it off. There is a special kind of “coating”, providing him with a matte finish. I would not recommend doing it yourself. 18K gold is a soft metal (if memory serves me right) leave it to the pros, they can do it the right way, and it will not hurt the jewelry. I might even contact a few different places to get some Meinungen.Good Luck!

A jeweler can put a buffing wheel to it and get it shining in no time. It will take some of the metal off but if it is a wedding band or a ring with some weight to it, it should be no problem. There is nothing that you can “put” on it to make matte shiney.
